need a new online radio station? try 97.x independent radio. it's not all indie, they will venture of and play REM, Stooges, verve, etc

I discovered smoosh on it playing a song. The song i heard titled Make It Through reminded me of metric so I ran a search. Unfuckn real, the duo is aged 10-12. No gimmick, they are really good.
audio sample
another review another review
they have oped for pearl jam, death cab for cutie, jimmy eats world, pres of the usa, sleater kinny, etc. i'm currious if the stripes have heard them. the studio work seems to have helped them.

^^(no age jokes, that would be too creepy)

i hope your all doing well. dreamers and studiers.

sarah slean is on vikki on monday. going to see k-os at pub that nite! :)
tues and weds i work at the city. thurs i finish school late and then we are back at the weekend essentialy. time flies

Rach that's so weird I had some pretty lucid dreams last night too! They seemed so real and if they reflect my future in any way at all, I'm screwed.

And I drank last night.

I dreamt last night I was supposed to get married (wedding dreams - bad sign #1) to this old family friend who was always much older than the other kids that I played with when I was like 6 or 8. He was 18, mysterious and really cute. Like I was 8 and I'd blush when he'd walk by.

He never proposed, we had never actually spoken to each other but everyone knew we were - not engaged - but getting married. We were preparing for a theme wedding (ripped straight from the last book I almost finished, Shopaholic Ties the Knot) and all I remembered was I got to wear a dress and a candy necklace that he rips off my neck (it was supposed to be funny in the dream but I still don't get it) (unhumorous humour - bad sign #2).

Anyway, there aren't enough chairs for the guests (ripped straight from last night lol) and he doesn't bother getting any (or maybe we tried and they said no) so we don't get married.

Then I had a dream I was standing on Bay street in front of that court house with these people in black suits finishing work, lining the streets, and an old co-worker at my first agency runs up to me out of nowhere to give me stuff that the tv stations came to drop off and she hands me this rose that died, from David Copperfield. David Copperfield? WHAT THE FUCK!

I was running somewhere at this point so I had to bury it quickly in some random novelty stone garden, or possible zen garden....I don't know, there were rocks and trees.

And then I woke up at 4:36 PM. So to make up for the time I wasted during the day I'm going to have to stay up all night until 4:36 pm tomorrow and hope that I make it to at least after 10 pm.

As my witnesses, I vow for this week to be NORMAL, dammit!

Oh freaky, I thought I saw snow but it was a piece of dust floating in my room.

Remember Lite Brite?

Thursday, October 21, 2004

happy note,
kodak replaced my digi cam with the new modle of it seeing that my old one couldn't be repaired. it has most the same features but is around half the size and has different controls. it's pretty sexy.

I'm working as marketing ast at Huron Park community center for the city of mississauga. it's part of my work placement and i'm pretty excited. although it's with the city that have a marketing department and all, marketing at this building is new. the marketing supervisor worked with rec programs for the last 15 years and just over the last year took on marketing position. the last 2 days working their i have pretty established that i will be working on a newsletter, web material, and figuring out what we can do for each program. it's great that i also have the flexibillity to get whatever else i think would improve the building get done aswell.
the biggest test is actually doing marketing, seeing i know mainly as principals. looking at things that way, i don't mind that im working the 84hrs for free. it will be a good indication if this is something i want to do for the rest of my life.

rach, thanks for posting that.
it's really one of the world's sillent wars. paul martin did speak up about it, but the media seemed never to report it. my guess is they will look back it in 3 years and will show us what we could have done.

if but one of those cases happened in north america...

i am ignorant to the fighting that is going on there. i don't know who is who, why and how. it sounds like neighbour vs neighbour, not a millitary fight. if that's the case and these killings are on such a large scale, their will be probally be a pardon given to everyone for their respective war crimes. i think that's the way they moved on in Rawanda.

evertime i puase and think about what u wrote my stomach turns. is it just a bad person given the opportunity? is it just hate? or a good person given the opportunity/setting? i don't think i can even guess at that now. i can hardly even come up with any wish to excuse behaivour like the attack rach mentioned.

nadine, i thought you were listening when gabe was talking about the audio spotlight.
link

marc, it matters what your cousin is up to. i think when i was 18 the only places out were: movies, bowling, mini golf, diner, concerts (some), raves, sport events, and then just chilling.
i wish my family from england came down more often. would feel more comfortable meeting them over there if i met them here first.

yesterday i went to a really nice funeral service for my cousin's father inlaw. i think he was the nicest old man i have ever met. he lived his entire life from birth to death in the same small town. he did so many good things for the community, one of which was being a volunteer fireman for 35 years! they took him to the cememetary on a firetruck. it was neat to hear them speak of him and see the traits echoed through his family. by accident during the service i responded to the hello and question of if the people in the back could hear her. of course, as always i was the only one to answer as everyone else on the balcony and the rest of the packed church remaind dead sillent. the speaker thanked me afterwards for it.

this morning i had work training and things started to get rather intense. the first 2 hours were all on marketing stuff. the second 2 hours were on cultural diversity. the speaker was really into it but tentions started to get high as some people in the crowd were getting defensive (or in denial) of what he was saying. there were a couple of hundred city employees and out of that only a handful were of colour, one being the speaker. some ppl walked out but i did find it rather interesting.

school has started to pick up now. i'm getting pretty familuar with csi (esp vegas) times are. i saw it on tv 5 times last nite

Cam, what audio spotlight?

yeeaaah, to be honest, i'm not going nuts over the new stars stuff yet either...
sunday--w00!
i can't believe we're going back to dovercourt house. are we crazy?! nevermind, don't answer that one.

catherine chang!!!
merci for the links (&yes they are hobits! although taller than me, but i suppose hobbits surpass oompaloompas). are you digging the stars new material? i've only heard the track on the site, i think i may need a couple takes to have a set opinion. i checked lawr's site for the sea snakes cd release, & it's the 23rd of october (saturday!) at our beloved dovercourt house. hopefully there is a greater division between those that know eachother ... & those that know nobody but those they walked in with! i will confess my love that night with help from my friend, intoxication.

sunday will be grande: let me know what time you want to head over. mmmm delicious weeks lay ahead...

psst....in the back seat = new obsession. i want to cry.

http://www.arts-crafts.ca/stars/freedownload/index.asp

for cgal!!! i also got the video and audio recording (it's real good) of them playing at the horseshoe gig we "went" to...i think the sea snakes played that night, too...i guess that's why we spotted lawr. aaand, my friend alison smoked up w/ 'em when they last came to k-town. ?!?

nadine, the audio spotlight is pretty cool.

Sarah Slean.
the sarah slean date in peterborough is nov 13th i believe. it's a friday.
i'm not sure if i will head to it as she has added a toronto date on the 25th and i have been invited up to ottawa for the 26th (sarah plays ottawa that weekend).
so i'm not sure which of the 3 i will visit. tickets seem to be 15-27$ depending on who else playing. sarah's set is normally 45mins.

hey guys
rach, sorry again for hitting you with the penny. i still find it a strange shot as i was behind you and thought it would hit you in the back if it were to hit you at all. that was the most buzzed and out i have been since the days at the phoenix. i didn't notice the girls dancing on each other. Jen let us in at havana which was cool and the place was crowded just right. good vibe and a wacked out ratio of way more girls then guys.

stina, metric was on zed tv the other day. i captured them playing combat baby and dead disco (which shouted out the bss, constantines, dears, stars, etc). it was done really well and zed tv page does have the videos up real video (didnt work for me).

ctd stalkerdom will come together in 5 days. me, being the stalker, christina being the clock stealer. welcome back my penguin-down-concrete-slopes darling. if free is the night it'll go off all the more pleasant.

in these moments, i feel as though i exist in alice in wonderland the book, not the film, for it's all the more insane.

cherrio, loves.

arcade fire show at lee's last night: there are no words. everyone hates to say it, yet they're saying it anyway: believe the hype! their album is excellent, but their live shows can be lifechanging experiences. and so far, i've enjoyed the ppl who are going to see 'em play. i'm actually tempted to go to the hamilton show today. but no, i must resist!!! this guy wrote a really great review of the show. (funnily enough, i sold him a wheat cd when i did merch at the liz phair show a while back)

Kay your into CSI too! excellent
im about to go watch another now.
i average around 7 epps a week. AandE is doing a full day marathon of CSI miami.
- for the pictures, you can upload them into an alubm with imagestation.com or ophoto.com
photobucket is pretty good to for lower quality pics and if you just want to post them here.
(option 3 would be using hello instant messenger, but i think stina and i are the only ones with that).

Stina,
i know dan produced the slean album, i think i yelled at you for not letting me know ealier about it. they have a hiden track on the album which sounds very much like them and is getting positive feedback. i don't want to read to much between the lines but what did you take home from the show? did you think "china girl" was directed at you??

cSi time.

cam--slean's latest sounds tND-ish 'cause dan kurtz helped produce it.
marc--keep those gory stories coming!!

coming home in about 4 hours...

went to see arcade fire on wed. might go again tonite.
quick notes:
- looong line--no way everyone was getting in, band hanging around out front, friend had no tkt, snuck him in, band helped sneak others in by making them their "roadies," matt & jill barber were there, late gig (started after 12:30 a.m.), HAD AN AWESOME TIME (fave show ever, after radiohead and stars..), made friend get band to sign my cd, got slightly intoxicated, and therefore kind of took home a "souvenir"...

went to see constantines/jim guthrie last nite.
- saw alison from journal there, jim guthrie did crazy freestyle, apparently the cons wanted to score coke (?! my whole world has been turned upside down!!), missed a lot of cons' set 'cause had to go have a drink w/ wade (b-day today!), christine, phyo and andria, bry webb came down and played guitar in front of us (he is oddly attractive--i've grouped him in w/ liev schreiber and my romanian waiter), swear i heard them play a few riffs of bowie's "china girl" before the encore

also went to matt barber and cuff the duke shows in past two weeks. reviewed the CtD one.

shit, i need to pack.

Ok I'm sorry. But I've been good and reading up on blogger every day, promise. I just don't find that I have anything interesting at all to contribute for your reading amusement! That's all.

And nothing's changed.

Teehee.

Will come up with some sort of solution - pronto.
