Oh I hate procrastinating on my posts! But as I'm wide-awake and sobered up and feel like I can run a marathon and it's nice and quiet everywhere I actually feel really excited. Isn't this GREAT!
Let's take this back to the start (oh! *tear) .....
Christina, I don't think synchronized swimming has any athletic merit to it besides the training it takes to be able to perform this exercise. Like figure skating and ballet - although not (yet) an olympic event . They're both performance arts that are best performed with a high component of athletic training, sure. But it seems like anything can be an olympic event as long as it involves a pool, bars, springy devices or boards. That's pretty much the only consistency I see and, well, I'm not a huge olympic fan so maybe I'm missing something. It just seems off... like synchronized swimming...hurdles...figure skating...100 m sprint? And although it's hard to not see any of these as olympic events, being so used to hearing about the events, doesn't it just seem wrong. Anyway, end rant. I really like the pics you posted. And extremely jealous...wish I was there! Sadly, I, too pictured Alaska to be snowy year round. *Hangs head in shame.
Nadiners, I hope the job is treating you well and congrats again!
Karen, I hope you bring back as many pics to make me jealous. ;) Man, I'm dying to get outta here!
And FINALLY - CGAL: OMG. What a refreshing blast from the past. :) Those were some good times backnthaday. I remember our grade 6 teacher and her amazement (word?) with some of our 'early work'. I remember she photocopied your journal and mine as examples for the rest of the class with these excellent! stickers as the final toppers. But I don't remember this story I think you wrote (?) made with us as characters? I wish I did, I'd be quite pleased with myself and dust off my hands like I was saying my work here has been done. But I don't and now I'm a little saddendedededd!
I think it's hilarious just how distinctive your compilation of Favourites you and Christina created: I wonder whose fave movie was Drop Dead Fred but whose was A Few Good Men. LOL. I still remember the days where you guys also went ape over the MMC...oh good memories. It was so innocent back then.
Christina also used to choreograph these complicated moves for us to MEMORIZE for such memorable diddys as the Beverly Hills Cop theme and the MMC's "Step to the Rhythm" ("step to the rhyme!"). Omg and that penguins song...it seems so long but somehow we were capable of memorizing a dance and the lyrics! I guess my biggest beef seems to be not having that kind of memory I used to have when I was younger. That kinda sucks.
Looking back at these memories, all I can say is...Man, were we fucking cool or what!
And yes, I did see the 'Tata' pictures! I just did not have the priceless exchange of words in my head to match my feelings and post-viewing questions-o-rama!
Galiners, I hope you enjoyed your b-day festively. Maybe when you're feeling celebrational we can celebrate the celebration...celebrationally. CELEBRATE! It's ya birt-day.
Cheers, kids (because I hope we always will be).
