wow, crissandra--what are ya gonna do this year? sounds exciting.
everyone come to tND on sunday. it might be my last day in town...
last nite was fun. i did film fest stuff during the day and then hightailed it from college to queen's quay afterwards to meet up w/ a girl who had our tkts. saw the kingston girls and joined them in line. i showed them the funny insult NOW mag directed towards mraz [it was a listing for the dave matthews gig next week]:
Shut out of the Jason Mraz and Joe Firstman gig at the Guvernment Thursday? Check out the man who put the whole rockstar fantasy in reach for dull suburban dweebs everywhere.
eye mag was prettty nice to him though.
the line wasn't too long, which was nice, since it was INSANE in hartford a few months ago.
picked up my button from this girl who made 'em for the 25+ RKOPers. she put "christine" instead of the correct name though. blah.
cam came a few minutes before doors opened and then we went in to secure spots. we were about three people away from the front. i got a wristband in line, so i was special and got to go up to explore that new goldclub room they have now. preeeetty niiice. good high view of the stage and single washrooms w/ black toilets! alas, cam didn't get a coveted wristband, so i went back to join him near the front.
i spotted a mother and her daughter (she looked around 9) trying to get a good spot. that was cute.
the american girls who were coming from rochester, buffalo and cleveland and the one girl from winnipeg were running late and didn't get to the guv until after the opening act finished (they sucked anyway). we dragged them up to where we were (felt bad about that--it was kinda tight) and then watched the show.
it was pretty great. cam seemed to enjoy it. it's probably the last mraz show i'll see for awhile (was tempted to go to the montréal gig today, but i do have some willpower after all), so i'm glad he played a lot of the songs i like. only one he missed was "so unusual." i took some bootleg videos on the digital cam and was almost caught by the security ppl.
the new band ppl are better than the old ones. the new guitarist is tara maclean's husband. they switched up the sound a lot. the keyboard dude was even doing some tND-ish things! niiiice. i think it was the first time i actually saw mraz play the keys, too.
afterwards, we loitered outside and blew bubbles and i broke out my light-up yo-yo and we took cheesy group photos. sorry we didn't go to joker, marc & co. we ended up following ian-the-bassist and the american girls into the orange room (oh, the perks of not having to pay cover and wait in line) and then amity somehow convinced security to let us go up to skybar where mraz & co were hanging out. the place was packed. it was that fashion nite thing that i've tried to convince you ppl to go to sometimes. i think we missed the fashion show part though. anyway, we hung around, drank (except cam), amity got pretty drunk, danced a bit (they played house remix versions of freaking coldplay's "clocks" and U2's "still haven't found what i'm looking for"--weiiird), watched dennis the merch guy and adam the british drummer doing weirdass dance moves, finally got a pic w/ mraz (though i look like a tool), andrea spotted this dude who looked like a hunky model w/ a 'fro (i dared her to ask him if he was, but she didn't; there were quite a lot of guys there that nite), toca disappeared so i never got to make him dance w/ me, finally got on the tour bus. actually introduced myself to ian this time.
thanks for coming w/ me, cam. i hope you weren't too bored by it all.
yep, that's it. no more mraz. unless amity makes me go to buffalo.
so...nobody's interested in boy/hawaii/a northern chorus tonite? if not, i might go out w/ nora to that café/restaurant thing at winston churchill and then rent movies afterwards.
