i'm not a concept...i'm just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind. don't assign me yours.

eternal sunshine for the spotless mind was everything brilliant + so much more. joel & i already agreed to watching it a second time, there was just far too much to take in in one sitting! i fell in love with what the movie brought out of my memory, so many pieces of joel & i that i could never forget or ever erase. i wouldn't have wanted to watch it with anyone else...& i love how i connected with the words & thoughts, how it made me remember us then & now; i was overwhelmed with emotions! christina, how could you have ruined it for yourself? i think it was pretty much predictable, no? but it didn't ruin the film, as it still took many turns you wouldn't expect. but definitely a film to watch over n over n over! (or at least once;)

edgefest has been a dissapointment for years, so i'm not at all caring over missing it (& the fact that it's not in molson part just takes the fun out of it all anyhow!). however, edgefests have provided me with great music & memories over the year... those festivals were definitely part of my teenage years, and i had a lot of fun.

cam- typewritters=easy to manipulate, turn the words into a beautiful mess that one couldn't create with a computer. a lot of beauty has been lost in the advancement in technology, i think...i prefer the raw & real look that one gets with a typewritter.

christina: i want to attend the unicorns show, have heard a lot of good things from yourself & others. count me in (i think exams are over then). i still have to let you know about sondre lerche.

i bought a black & pink dress for my cousins wedding. it's delicious & very far from heaven, minus the mass poof.;)

over n out,
cgal x

i've been to lava lounge! it's quite small, but nice.
oh yeah, and vespas. that's another trademark.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!!! GREAT film!! i figured out too much ahead of time and sort of ruined it a bit for myself though. nevertheless, go see it if you haven't yet!

stinas summary is pretty good. there is quite a bit of writting and pics up on the page about the mod scene and clubs.
i think they have 3 locations.

im not sure if im 100% settled about going there.
a plan B...

maaan...i've emptied out my entire nme e-mail acct. just a note: don't send me stuff there anymore. i won't get it.

rach, the mod club is on college (revival, i think?) and most ppl dress up like mods and they play british '60s music and stuff...i know some ppl who've gone before (my bro--he had no idea what he was going to, our a&e editor) and they enjoyed it. i think.

i was never a fan of edgefest...i don't think i've ever gone.

i wish cecilia's parents got a less tragic sort of closure.

ahhh...last issue of the journal this week...so sad. a lot of alcohol will be involved, i think.

sweet 17 (19) inch monitors in this lab

Cecilia's body was found right near my house. i used to attend that church to which it was found. i'm happy that they have had some closure.

more hate crimes. i wonder if it's the same ppl perputrating them or what not. pretty cowardly. i wonder if they were dumb enough to leave a google trail.

lil update about the starwars kid. the page i linked to had contacted him and received his permision to for that page. the sight makes money for the kid (got him a ipod) and is now working on an ibook. also, it's almost all positive comments towards him. is everything peachy? maybe not but it appears not to be so cruel.
with the fx boy, he avoided police for a short period of time making the young offenders act privacy laws waved for the duration of the search. mr finamore visited him in jail shorly after, "he felt finaly at home".

i think we got rid of our type writter, but why would u want one cgal?
keys jamming, no back spacing, messy ribbons, and the joy of return.
however i think they make great toys and antiques.

anyone want to see the ravonettes? i'm still giving them a good listen to see if i really like them... but am interested.

i'm trying to figure out what to do exactly next saturday night. i know everyone has there school comitments of some sorts, but something it afoot. mod club?

i need a summer job.

Friday, March 26, 2004

Sorry, Cgal. I always see some nice cheap ones at Goodwill, though, I think that's a good option.
Btw, the May 15th show at the Palais Royale for Hawksley is probably the one you'd rather go to...it's 19+!

You know, I was so sure that Sondre Lerche was a girl. Now he just looks a bit dykey. Sorry, was that politically incorrect? I can't even tell any more. The Line? It's blurred. Perhaps it was the cake and beer I had today at work. And don't listen to Marc, no, it's not a good combination whatsoever.

Cgal and I got another message from Scottish Friend Grant, including a link to some beautifully bizarre fucked up yet hilarious (!) poetry of Yeti's. That's so rock n roll.

A PLEA
does anyone here or anyone you know of have a TYPEWRITER that they don't mind parting with!? i reallllllly want one, and am willing to pay so long as the price is somewhat affordable!!

so ask around, or let me know, i'd really appreciate it!!

and a beautiful night to you all!
i'm feeling so alive today. wrote a paper that i didn't struggle on, walked outside SMILING because it was _that_ nice. tank top and a jean jacket, wavy hair and no makeup...ahhhh springtime.

thank you for the links christina! i actually read those, i pick up 2 eyes and 2 nows each thurs. for j and i, i look nuts but i love 'em.! decent review for malcolm:) i sometimes try not to read through those though, because afterall, it's only opinion. and the opinions end up being crap most of the time! & yeah, if you were there on monday, you would have loved the crowd. i forgot to mention santa claus was there too;)
as for 'lobster boy' (he TOTALLY resembled the lobster boy on silverchair's 'freak show' album cover), it's the truth. scary thing was i always said there was something eerie about him, and said he'd probably end up killing someone one day...only to see jeanan etc. on tv. being interviewed (it was ch.10), the reporter asking what they knew about him. it freaked us out for the longest time, i remember i was sitting at home screaming. he was found by police wandering the streets....it was just a really sad story.

ewww weird memories!

but hey,
summmmmertimmmmmeeeeeee.

i'll let you know when my cousin's wedding is..
& hawksley workman is playing 2 shows! 1 @ the danforth hall and another @ palais royale. woot!! (i've yet to see him, how exciting!) anyone want to go?! i can't remember the dates..god, i'll update later. i'm too giddy right now:D

cgal xxx

oops. it's on may 8.
hahaha...that lee's crowd sounded interesting! ;D

lotsa music stuff. pgmg preview. cgal's lee's show. bnw party live bands portion doesn't get such a great review...but she doesn't mention les georges leningrad at all. girl i've exchanged a billion e-mails w/ but have never met review's jill barber's (matt's sister--she went to queen's too--she's playing here on saturday) new cd.

and i kinda, sorta, wanna see jersey girl.

i remember that guy from our school...at least i remember hearing about him. he was never in any of my classes. i'd also heard about him killing his mother...was it actually true? at the time, i couldn't tell if it was just a rumour since i'd only heard about it through other students.

that kid was in grade 10??? you know, it disgusts me how cruel kids are. does anyone rememember the kid when we were around grade 11 i think? he was really introverted, fairly big, and people used to throw pennies down his pants? but he'd just smile cos he knew that the'd get in trouble? he ending up killing his mom.

christina-i'm in for sondre lerche! every snip i've heard is adorable, he's adorable, and for $12 you can't go wrong! PLUS it's at the horseshoe!!! (crissy, you in? hehehe) *oh wait shit, if it's may 9, what day is that?! my cousin is getting married either on the 8th or 9th......
the crowd @ the malcolm show: 1/4 'toronto scenesters' aka. idiots w/scarves and tight pants; older people; a guy who looked like cracked out jesus; really just looked like a bunch of people who were so weird they could never get a date, and so went to shows and acted like morons in hopes of finding someone. yeahhh...j & i thought pizza sounded like a better plan;)

my paper was finished at 7:30pm last night. that is a first and a shock, i actually got sleep!
;)

marc, the star wars kid (SWK) is kinda huge.
you can buy thongs with him on it and there are 106+ versions of the video.

be aware..... the 10th grade canadian boy didn't wish for the video to come out. they are suing the 4 kids that put it online, the boy has dropped out of the HS he was attending and getting psychiatric help.

yaay...go see pgmg! somebody has to!!!

glad you loved the malcolm gig, cgal. what was wrong w/ the crowd??

SONDRE LERCHE!! tkts on sale at RT now! $12, horseshoe. who's in? may 9, i think. come on, he's a cute norwegian guy w/ equally cute songs.

*singsong voice*
christina! christina! you still have your johnny lee miller!!

what a fabulous day this has been.
scotish friends, jlmiller and a dancing king, what more could i ask for?!

(and it's things like these that make me realize papers & everything else stressful mean absolutely nothing)
xx

crazyness,
i thought i had posted about sxsw but i think i aborted that blog.
there was a clash with police at one of the shows (it's on the sxsw msg board). the party from one show cheered out onto the street but police confronted, band members were arrested, serrious charges layed (laid?).
i have never payed to much attention to it untill this year. blogger has had a link up to it, RedvsBlue is going to be there, and then the past line ups (white stripes, black eyed peas)

thurs - going to caps for the first time
fri - ? work / utm fashion show?
sat - road runners hockey game (box) / leafs game at st joes?
sun - ball hockey exhbition game

i have been debating on weather or not to pick up the WS latest single before it sells out. it's my least fave track on Elephant but the B side is pretty good. chances on reselling it myself are slim. In the last week I have communicated with the manager of ex-prodigy guitarist gizz butt and with lady currently in charge of XL's mail ordering. summer job leads...... none.

crassy, alicha. i thought it was mean at first but he had it coming to him. poor guy. marc's starwars kid forward was damn funny too.

Cameron Bay.

procrastination rules my life when papers are due the next day. how lovely my life has been, stressed out writing a paper i care nothing about.
but hey... as promised, here is my review of the malcolm middleton/sluts of trust/the delgados show i caught w. joel on monday. (cheers, this is for you christina;)

monday the 22nd: the night was beyond frozen, but we kept ourselves alive with laughter & cheap conversation that we could muster out of our shivering lips. i hadn't been in a lineup for what seemed like forever & it was an unpleasant reminder of all the waiting in lines we'd done when we were younger. but we made it through, & grabbed ourselves the perfect seats where we'd experienced arab strap in november. we warmed up & grabbed some drinks, & j offed to purchase malcolms album...only to realize malcolm was the one selling the merch. the exchanged bits of conversation, & j told him how much we'd enjoyed his & arab strap's set the last time they were in toronto. i love him for not fearing conversation, i couldn't even push myself to approach the merch table. i'm sorry christina! i pretty much knew malcolm would be selling the merch (they did last time) and was far too nervous..perhaps if i'm superdrunk next time;)

sluts of trust were on first, two men, & i wondered what the sound would be like, they were both so small & slinky. j & i were suprised with how incredible the sound was that came out of them. one guitar & a drummer, but if you closed your eyes you'd think a full band was rocking on stage. the drummer was amazing...the music was groove-worthy & the words were littered with sexual reference (notable in scottish conversation & lyrics!) that got the crowd laughing & responsive. overall a good time, we laughed at their lyrics and although it wasn't my cup-o-tea, i'd definitely check them out live again, very entertaining!

malcolm middleton was on next, (middleton..middle set...muahahaha..ok, j and i laughed over this overly cheesy joke we made) & his set was more fabulous than the last time he played. it's incredible to watch how much power comes out of one mans voice & an acoustic guitarl. i loved that a crowd formed on the floor (last time it was empty) & people were enjoying his work. j & i sang along to the words we'd remembered, and fell in love with how much we connected to his lyrics. it's incredible how a performance or lyrics can draw you closer to someone...we sat there with our arms around eachother smiling. it was such a beautiful experience...i love malcolm! and we cheered our loudest (crissy, i 'OWWED'!;) & i screamed out that i loved him. hehe. he is such a poet, as is arab strap, i just find myself connecting more with them & realizing they are my absolute favorite. christina, i thank you for that because if it wasnt for the bright eyes/arab strap show (that was cancelled, grr) i would have never known of them!

we caught a couple tracks by the delgados, but weren't quite enjoying it all too much, (the crowd was really mixed and cheesy, i couldn't wait to up and leave). they just seemed like any-other-band, and i wasn't really impressed. so we opted for late night pizza to end it all:)

greatttt night, overall:)
and christina, i'm planning on going to the pgmg show with joel if i've the $ and time :)
i can't wait for the stills april 8 i believe? ahhhh good times.
i'm so looking fwd. to this summer and the endless shows to see. i fall in love with the experience every single time.

all my love,
cgal xxxx

**EDIT** CRISSY! how twin is this!? we post @ the same time?!!! twwwwin!!!! email war's are the shizznit (huh?!) imagination! i like cake! and excuse me, but WE are living SOLIDROCK! XX

Weird, i was just reading about sxsx down in the...well, south.

Omg. Cgal, you are living SOLID ROCK!!

I think we're having an email war and it's actually making my day, lol :)

TWIN!!

That's the best line ever, lol, it still makes me laugh "it's musty up there, you cunt" lol oh me oh my...

i can't wait, tomorrow's haircut day! i can finally stop sitting around all day and staring at my split ends.

Tuesday, March 23, 2004

go see pgmg next week, ppl!! daaammit i wish i could go...
sxsw sounded like fun.
a sorta tribute to bnw's 20th.
the star covers good stuff.

SOLLLLLIDDDD ROCK!
crissy, damnit girl, i MISS YOU!

well, remember when we entered the horseshoe that night & yeti just leeched onto you? well, grant & i talked about arab strap for about 1/2 an hour! so he knew that i loved them, & he also knew i was going to be at the malcolm middleton show that was coming up. so i suppose when he read the post titled 'malcolm in toronto' he assumed it was me? but how crazy is it that he remembered my name? i know that europeans are much more cultured & far less ignorant when it comes to pronounciation (an english doctor i had seen once informed me of this;).
i'm shocked they made it back too!!!

and JOIN!:) you don't 'even have to post in the forum, you can send private messages. so there you have it! do it do it!!

'it's musty up there you cunt' wow. how great is this??!

Wow, how did he find you so easily!!!? I'm still shocked that they made it back to Glasgow in one piece! lol! Wow...Anyway, sure I'll scan em, absolutely. LOL I"m reading some of the posts:

"i'm sure i snore and smell too much :(" -ian's loft

"That's precisely why you're a loft and not a kitchen or a bathroom. You can't have a snoring, belching, nut-scratching kitchen, can you? It'd put you off your cup of tea. And you do smell because you are in the roof. It's musty up there, you cunt. There is less ventilation, significantly less than 21% oxygen." -toothache, some bastard making fun of Ian (possibly Yeti) but making a hilarious point whether true or untrue

LOL "Its musty up there, you cunt"

Do you think Arab Strap will get pissed if I joined just to say hi? Or can you say hi for me? :) lol You can learn to love me *heart* :)

bmxthreat

CRISSANDRA!!!!!!!!! THEY REMEMBER US!!
not only THAT, but they freakin' remember how to SPELL my name!!!

scan the pictures, and we'll send them!
we've got links in scotland, we've got links in scotland!

(how fucking cool IS this?!?!?!? this totally made my freakin' day!)

not to mention that the show last night was brilliant!!! but i'll write more later, i'm too damn excited;)

Ben Rayner's dreamy.

Anyway, watch this!

bob really was all over this TO weekend playing at cne, phoenix, and kool haus; sting got the press.

did you see eternal sunshine of the spotless mind? it seems interesting.
i still haven't seen big fish.

christine told me she had red vs blue burned =p
some people at school told me watch it last semester but i never got around to downloading any of it. seeing it streamed on winamp tv made it easy.

waterloo was fun on friday. got to leave for class, later

cameron

ahhh...warm fuzzies. ben rayner obviously hasn't been to a stars gig in over a year.

rach and yvonne (and mark?)--thanks for inviting me downtown today!!! i appreciated the offer. :)) i was not exactly fully conscious when you asked me though, and i actually got some work done before i left, so it's all good! although i had another psycho bus driver...i think i'm a magnet for them or something. blahadfdajfkldhf.

cgal, you owe me a jonny lee miller.

Saturday, March 20, 2004

alright, going to see eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. if anyone's interested, call me in the next hour.

cgal, get yer ass to a phone and call me already!!!

Friday, March 19, 2004

ahhh...i don't know which i want to go to! actually, i want to go to both, but i don't know which to choose!
cbc radio 3's connect the dots:

May 7 Toronto, ON @ The Drake Hotel (w/Young And Sexy, The Russian Futurists, P:ano, Ninja Highschool)
May 8 Toronto, ON @ The Drake Hotel (w/The Unicorns, Controller.Controller, Lederhosen Lucil, I Am Robot And Proud)

haha, cam, you're always a bit behind christine when it comes to the "cool" cartoons (i.e. clone high). she gave me the first season of red vs blue a few months ago. apparently the second season is out now.
bob dylan's in town here this weekend.

my friend karen told me about another cartoon (i can't remember the name of it now, but wesley knows it, the know-it-all bum) that i really want to see. it's supposed to be pretty old, but they're airing it on the sci-fi channel or something now. karen's supposed to make me copies soon, hopefully.

should i go to formal ($70/tkt!!!!!) or anti-formal w/ journal ppl? a lot of ppl (including christine, karen, etc) are going to formal though--and have already bought their tkts.
ahhhh....dilemma.

Thursday, March 18, 2004

haha i was doing a search on blogger and i came upon marc's green beer pics. pretty funny stuff.

newhoo, last night Jack White played and improvised set of Ball and Biscuit with BOB DYLAN!
ppl were joking on the little room message board if jack could ever play with dylan and a choice set list.
here's the track :)
they make it a whole different song.

Cameron Bay.

Haha, that was fun. I never could imagine what Fox and the Fiddle looked liked packed and then St Patty's rolls around. Nice! Green beer all around, good times! :)

And Marc you thought you weren't gonna get anything done when you got home. Haha!

Wednesday, March 17, 2004

alot of shows rolling through the city, quite a few hipster groups too. your show blog still up stina?

CONSTANTINES w/ Pretty Girls Make Graves, Mahjong. Phoenix. $13.50 at TM, RT, SS, CD. Mar 31.

the most afordable act i want to see is the distillers (15$) and maybe the squarepusher this time around (18$).
is it an offence to sneak into shows?

ps.... funniest thing i have seen since clone high is Red VS Blue, a animated serries made from gameplay of halo.
you can view it by navigating to winamp tv (ALT-L) > red vs blue
OR
open your play list > add url > *paste* http://205.188.234.33:8064/;stream.nsv

Cameron Bay.

i am destined never to catch a taping of play! their last show of the season is this week. argh.

Wow, Christina, Lindsey's hardcore dedication is something we can all learn from! Damn... That's awesome, pass on a congrats to Jeff and Liz.

Cgal, I'm glad Joel's b-day went well. Congrats on your first cake, I know I couldn't do it either without Old Betty C. Also, I think there might have been a slight miscommunication regarding Friday as I was actually expecting a call (as I think you were, also) to tell me where to go that night. I ended up falling asleep to the Simpsons at 10 pm wishing Joel, in spirit, a happy 22! Sorry again about the miscommunication, maybe we can make it up?

Rach, placenta, la senza...remember: "...wearing a la senza bra" "wearing a placenta bra?" lol, so wrong...had to be there for all who just had to read that and have no idea what I'm talking about.

Sunday, March 14, 2004

happy belated wishs around.

i just came back from my 3 day ottawa road trip. i waved to you kingston peeps on the way back.
it was a really family trip with my younger cousins.
my godson has a full mullet and giggles alot when he gets up.
his sister is at that cute age where she is just exploring everything and smilling. she liked me and we were buddies.
i put an album of the kids together. they are all pretty cute.

i was in my 3rd tacho fire on saturday night, those things are dangerous.

catch you all later.

christina, that truly sounded like a fabulous night! no, scratch that, insane! as for the girl who came after she finished recieving stitches @ the hospital...she deserves an award! dedication isn't even the word!

last night was spent celebrating joels birthday, and me being pressed for time as always! i made him a birthday card which i was quite proud of, only it took me close to 2 hrs. to make! rushed downstairs to make a bday cake (my first cake ever! so i got a lil'help from betty crocker..but hey!) & skor shortbread. i decorated the cake w/chocolate frosting & m&ms that read '2 2' pretty. we went to 'petes on eglington' a weird name for a restaurant, but killer food for a good price. they pile it on as if it were to be your last meal and joel and i just laughed endlessly, at the food, and the fact that we could never be serious at a restaurant (as we were surrounded with smile-less people, all trying so hard to act a certain way). it was fun! i dropped so much food on myself too...great;) back to my house i gave him his gifts which he loved; a polaroid camera (yay! can't wait to use it!) & a graduation picture of him framed. he has none of himself so it was a suprise & thankfully he loved it all. sang happy birthday and ate cake (we were so full by this point) went back upstairs to watch 'sylvia' and instead fell asleep until 4 in the morning. goood times!

christina, how exciting!!! i'll make myself free, let me know when you'd want to go out..friday? sat? i'll call in work sick if on the friday, i want to see you!! maybe we can go eat downtown and hit up a club or concert... i've so many concerts to go to i'm going nuts!! delgados, stills, thursday is coming & i have to purchase tickets..yikes. oh yeah, i have another add-on to our great summer, can we fill up on indie films!? i love love love. i think we'll have to buy ttc passes for the summer;)

off to read 'road to wigan pier'. yeah..sure..;)

last nite was crazy. i went to dinner w/ some friends for my friend's bf's b-day at a fancy schmancy restaurant at the radisson hotel by the water, and it took _forever_. it was great, don't get me wrong, but we got there at around 8 p.m. and i left at 11 p.m. and they still weren't really finished yet! the last time i had 3-hr dinners was back in high school when we still had fancy schmancy family dinners w/ the well-off family on my dad's side. anyway, at this restaurant called aqua (where i wasn't dressed very appropriately b/c i was planning on going to the bar for andria's b-day straight afterwards, but mainly 'cause i'm lazy and didn't care), we got to sit in a section set a bit apart from the rest of the diners since there were a dozen of us. most of us ordered from the prix fixe menu since it was a pretty good deal--$25 for your choice of an appetizer, entrée and dessert w/ coffee or tea (whereas an entrée not on the prix fixe menu was priced from $15-30 dollars alone). it was waaay too much food though. i don't think i finished anything. and my friend had brought her own cake (a really pretty white chocolate raspberry cheesecake w/ big chocolate shavings all over the top), so most of us had 2 desserts! i had crême brulée as well. yum. i left before everyone else 'cause i was already late to andria's thing at the tir nan og, which is an irish pub across the street from the restaurant.
at the bar, wesley, calvin and most other ppl were there already, and andria was totally sloshed. it was nice to see aurelie and kate's other housemates since i hardly ever see them. and andria's friend jeff (the mountie who showed me his displaced nipples)!!! he proposed to his gf liz that day and they're getting married!!! craaazzzy!!
calvin told me to get andria a shot called a "blow job," so we ordered it from the bar, and when the bartender put 'em on the table, these two women beside us were staring at 'em, so we told them they were called blow jobs, and they seemed fascinated. then i said you're not supposed to use your hands when you drink it, and they were cracking up like there was no tomorrow.
our friend lindsay came after awhile, and she had just cut her hand an inch deep that night from washing the dishes. she'd come to the bar right after getting her stitches at the emergency room. that's dedication.
a bunch of ppl had left by the time christine and her housemates (and mike the lesbian) arrived at 1 a.m. (they'd had another b-day thing to attend as well.) we danced to the band from montréal that was playing (you have to see wesley dance--it's an experience).
andria tried to convince wesley to come to art-sci formal and asked him to be her date, but he refused, even when she offered to throw gemma, me and this guy named luke into the deal! but now i'm considering joining wesley and what sounds like the whole a&e team in some anti-formal plan. i think they're gonna dress up and go on a pub crawl instead. i haven't bought my formal tkt yet, and if i don't, i'd save $70. i'll have to think about it.
we ran into a guy in film who's currently wesley's partner for their collage animation project, and he used to be in one of my english classes last year, so he called me "chaucer girl." hmph.
finally, we left and andria tried to climb this block sculpture outside in the parking lot. quite a sight.
oh yeah, i gave her the box set of the his dark materials trilogy, and ppl told me she tried to dropkick it! the nerve!

anyway, my brain is sort of mush right now and i need to do a shiteload of hw i don't feel like doing. so is the drudgery of life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOEL AND ANDRIA AND MY COUSIN AND MY FRIEND'S BF!!! and someone else that i'm forgetting, but oh well--they won't read this anyway.

we were gonna go play bingo last nite, but we freaked out when we got to the actual door of the bingo place. too many old ppl, mullets and odd combinations of the two. so we went to the sydenham cemetary instead to look for john a. macdonald's grave. and we found it!!! yeaaaah, random roadtrips.

cgal, i think i'm most probably coming home next weekend, if everybody will be free and available.

hey, the trachtenburg family slideshow players are playing lee's on may 1. let the summer show-going begin.
i need a job. anybody got any leads?

thank-you, marc-
for being the only person who called. (i'd have called you back, but it was late & wasn't sure if you were sleeping or not).

**happy 22nd joel:) and andria:) and christinas cousin:)

Wednesday, March 10, 2004

i adore inspiration in the early hours of the morning,
whether delirious or shook up on caffeine (because staying awake is crucial to writing a paper),
& the world makes so much sense. everything you say is just absolute brilliance in those moments.

(had to share).

christina: i don't know what exactly he was inviting us to do...just know that it was at the drake hotel;)
crissy: did you call? :) it must have been a recent 'free rental' on joel's account because we're in there pretty much every week? that or the people you work with are idiots (minus jareet, that wonderboy). regardless, thanks again!. i want to adopt him as well, can he be part of our 'crew'? he'd be such a lovely addition (i feel as though we are adopting him!). it was disturbing and wonderful to watch macaulay & seth dress up as frilly drag-queen-like, boy & girl loving, club kids. did you enjoy macaulays performance? i was dissapointed..the laugh was most tedious & annoying. however, seth green nailed the role right on and believe he was the star of that movie (as was manson as 'christina'! he can act!). ste told me he worked for the bbc & showed me his card (legit even when drunk;). the other card (funny photograph) was his 'rail photo' and i love the fact that he said 'rail'. how much more lovely does that sound?! we must email them the pictures..;)

ok, so far in for joel's birthday: ludacriss & von.... rachie? marc? cam? still thinking over what to do, perhaps drinks @ this bar we passed by in streetsville & thought it quite pretty from the outside, or somewhere in port credit, club 107 (ladies free before 11!), or drinks downtown, or or or. i love suggestions, so send away!

i'm so tired.
but arent i always?

Tuesday, March 09, 2004

Oh internet stalker. P'shaw! We actually met them...they gave us their hotel address! (We didn't go.)

Cgal, no. I *points* love you *points to you*. Hey np, I don't even remember putting any free rentals on your account recently, anyway. I just watched Party Monster on Monday. Wasn't that disturbing to see Seth Green AND Macaulay Culkin dress up as homosexual club kids back in the 80s? And isn't Jareet the best thing since sliced bread? I'm gonna ask him if I can adopt him. I don't remember 'Ste' saying anything about working for the BBC. But then again I was being slightly deafened in one ear while listening to a band in the other, lol. Ah, good times. I remember seeing Ste's pic but I thought I heard him say it was for the metro rail or something along those lines. And I'm gonna attempt to call them either tonight after the movies or tomorrow night (Wednesday...the day before their last day!).

I'm up for Joel's b-day, just tell me when and where!

Anybody else up for watching Starsky and Hutch AND Euro Trip tonight? Tuesday, Tuesday. AMC @ 8pm tonight. Gimme a call if you're interested.

some guy on queen asked you to go to the brave new waves party?! or another one at the drake? niice.

you can actually watch some of the queen's stuff on the monday report website! just click on the link in my last post. they have the clubs segment on there. :)

yeah, march 13 is my cousin's b-day, too. popular day. but not as special as april 23. :P

laughing....(pause)....more laughs.
a party at the drake hotel, eh? von & i were invited to go with some pretty face (who ended up being armenian) walking down queen last thursday. reliving that in my mind made me burst into laughter..

i think we go through this each march, each year i forget, andria & joel have the same birthday! as do so many others i bump into (such a loved day!).
&i FORGOT to watch the monday report!! j & i were to busy watching 'party monster' making sure we could return it by 11;) rick mercer is so hilarious, and how did you find that info!??! you own christina!!! we should all go to a taping, that'd be a great experience. & i loooove 'hobo night stalker'! i dl'ded it from their site. good for you, rockstarrrrr.

they didn't end up taking pictures of us, but us of them..so perhaps we'll mail the shots to them (all the random email addys we found;) in hopes of them reaching.

crisscross: got your page! at 3am! (i was awake 'til 5 taking notes!) i forgot to take my pager off silent, and i decided to check it at 3 for the time only to see it flashing (oops!). of course i'm with you! (helllooooo, you should have known, twin!;) so...i'm home tonight, call or let me know what you do:D twintwintwin..lovelovelooooooove!

i took notes forever last night & am still not complete. now to shape them up into....something..ugh.

lovelove more love and love,
cgalxxxx

you met scottish _bbc_ guys?! ahhh....jealous.
did they take pictures of you? maybe you'll end up on the site! :D

did you all watch the monday report tonite, hmmm??? it was pretty funny. nice to see queen's and kingston featured. and the python appreciation society or whatever was greaaat. "nicht!"
btw, cgal, the tapings are in toronto. i found this: RICK MERCER'S MONDAY REPORT Live studio taping of Mercer's new CBC show. Jan 30. For info and tickets call 416-205-3024.
and i'm glad you liked CtD!!! the singer is a stick, but he is awesome. and sooo nice. the last time we saw 'em, we got drunk and were therefore able to talk to them, and it made my night. the blond guitarist named jeff has the same b-day as me. but i think he's a year older.
a few nites ago i was playing their cd, and i've figured out some of their guitar riffs from "hobo night stalker"! w00! and i can kinda do the harmonica parts on "lonely path," too!! yaaaay

aww...say happy b-day to joel for me! it's andria's b-day on saturday, so i've gotta celebrate w/ her. i think we're heading to an irish pub called tir nan og.
i might head back the weekend after though...cbc's brave new waves is having its 20th anniversary celebrations and there's gonna be a partee at the drake hotel...

"We're looking for a buncha loud Scottish--" "Hold, please,"
oh my, i cried reading this!!! & the thing is...you know it'd be the response!! language barriers own!! yah!! BOOYAH!!!!
ludacriss, you love me? no, egg shaker, i love YOU. that's right *points* YOU.
hey, thanks for the free movie @ rogers!! j & i rented party monster and jareet helped us (i did all i could to contain myself; did all i could to resist jumping over the counter, pinching his cheeks, and begging him to be our friend;) & he was all 'you have a free movie cos of a defected one before' and i began to giggle and just blurted thanks. i'm so cheery with him, and he has such great customer service skills, criss, have you given him a STAR??
i'm laughing that you found that link...wondering if the person who wrote it was none other than 'ste' b/c he works for the bbc scotland! (remember that funny picture?!) the insane leech is actually legit. He's legitimately professionally crazy! oh man!!! we get the greatest of folks. their friends consider them the sketchiest characters of glasgow?! wowwwwwww *high five!*

cam: i doubt that we can be considered internet stalkers..and see, we've actually met these people..unlike your stalking fetish. tisk. tisk.
how would you figure that i didn't like cuff the duke?? i was dancing around to their songs, and repeated more than once "wow..they're really freakin good! they made this night worth it!" but i guess that's not enough to convince you.......;) i didn't say the badass keyboardist/xylophone man was in the band. i simply noted that he rocked out...well. however, i checked out their site & think he plays w. them off & on?

so, here i go again, if i get replies who knows butttttt....
THIS WEEKEND IS JOEL'S 22nd BIRTHDAY! i'd like it if we could all get together on friday night (MARCH 12) to celebrate; perhaps downtown, a bar/club. i welcome everyones ideas as i've none!!! (and kingdom is out b/c burlington is too honky white;) so let me know if you're free, and throw some ideas @ me!!!! out for good times and laughs and celebrations!

off to read and take notes on books i love but don't want to fit into essays.
lovelovelovelooooove,
cgalxxx

how did you find that crassy? you girls might have become better internet stalkers then i have. maybe *l*

cgal, i didn't think you like cuff the duke that much.
the big haired fellow, i dont think is in the band. i thought they introduced his as paul and as a guest (dispite him playing in on most the new songs)

i watched the Passion of Christ yesterday. it's pretty moving and it is that graphic (torture shown). i had the feeling of a funeral most the time / good friday thing. i wouldn't say its a must see, Jesus of Nazreth shows much of the same thing without as long of scense (esp on graphic nature).
what i would say was a real new look was showing a physical representation of the devil.

Cameron Bay.

OMG

Grant and Yeti, however, have been unanimously labelled (by their friends) as the two sketchiest characters in Glasgow. Ho hum.

Galine, the insane leech is actually legit. He's legitimately professionally crazy! The only kind of acceptable crazy! Damn! Ugh! I'm such an idiot! GAHHH

Even a few tipsy patrons joined the band thinking that it was their rock 'n' roll fantasy come true

Oh my gosh I didn't even realise who they were talking about, lol, nice!

Cgal, I think we should give their hotel a call. Even though we don't know their last names I'm sure the hotel will know who we're talking about as soon as we say "We're looking for a buncha loud Scottish--" "Hold, please," lol.

Go language barriers!

*lol* "a little more mic on the egg, pls" Oh god I love you. :)

No way my cubicle smells like permanent marker and white out...you so crazy. *evil grin*

I'm so fuckin bored... *bwahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!*

Even a few tipsy patrons joined the band thinking that it was their rock 'n' roll fantasy come true
oh my!!! those scots truly made the night a memorable one!!! we must email them (through their site?) and ask that, if they remember us, we'll send over the pictures from the night. exquisite!

ludaCRISScross: i'm glad i got your approval on the post! and you're quite right, re-telling could NEVER do our night justice. ever. never. 'singing no no no no no! *pause* no no no no no!'. i miss them as well...we should call their hotel and leave a message. who knew language barriers could be so fun! ;)

so night two of CMW (by the way, ludacriss and i totally rocked cmw, i hope we did you proud christina!)
the elmo was far from what we expected, what with the previous night being so adventurous. the crowd needed to 'young it down!' as criss & i kept repeating (over...and over...and, over one more time!)
we scooted to the front to view the stage in hopes of some fun times, no, so it seemed the crowd was only oldER.
kate maki (was that who it was) was very folkish...i questioned criss if it was a boy or a girl (oops!). however, jokes and more jokes to be had as we couldn't contain ourselves, the one woman rocking out on.....an egg (shaker) and a moracca covered with shells. exciting. *a little more mic on the egg...we need some SOUL over here! *shake. shake shake!*

so cuff the duke.
as they were setting up, i couldn't help but comment that it was so obvious they were a 'christina band';) the boys suited the mold: tiny, adorable, and geek-rock-cool. dissapointed in the tunes of the night, i was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by their performance. everything flowed together with such ease, the lead singer may be tiny but damn is his voice powerful! and i love that they interact with the audience, and seem to have a great personality as well as chemistry btw. each other. they definitely played longer than 1/2 an hour...probably 45 minutes or so? i'm mad at myself for not purchasing their cds, which only means that they next time they have a show in toronto/york! (grr) i'm there! their new songs are incredible, so if you haven't heard them, i know you'll fall in love. criss & i love the keyboard/xylophone man (hahahah!)/ row the boat? (what the..?) his hair was huge and curly, and he was pudgy and sweet. christina, thankkkkk you for telling us they were playing cmw, i'm loving their music and will def'purchase their cds!!

so CMW was incredible,
crissy you rock my world! i had so much fun and we have to go out again for a night of adventure:D
cam, thanks for going and being the trooper you are! and i can't believe that picture turned out (of me!) blast you!!;)

minus the bathroom incident, which i don't want to write of in fear of breaking my computer in anger (although it is funny now that i think of it..;) it was a great time! (christina..guess what?..the bathrooms @ elmo upstairs, BLADE. creeeeepyy....)

i hope this made sense, i'm so tired from work and absolute stupidity!!
lovelovelovelovelovelovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve you all!!!!
cgalxxx

stina, i think they played for around 30minutes, its hard to say.
the only old song which they said by name was "ballad of a lonely construction worker"
here is the video. we were right beside a powerful stack of speakers and my camera only encodes in crappy quick time.

there is a DnB remix of milkshake, it's not that bad.

Saturday, March 06, 2004

heehee, i love the scottish accent. my granny (well, she wasn't really my grandmother) was scottish, and she was awesome. i wish someone had recorded me speaking when i was 4 or 5, 'cause i didn't pronounce things the "canadian" way then, and my brother would make fun of me.

it seems yer new friends are mentioned in the chart attack report card. :D

btw, how long did CtD end up playing for? they had a 1-hr slot, so did they only play for 30 mins or something?

Good job Cgal on the post! Doesn't it just seem like as if re-telling it doesn't do our good night's justice? The 'shoe outdid itself just one more time...I had such a good time, thanks for coming with, Galiners! :) And Yvonne :)

I'm so glad at least a couple of the pictures we took at the shoe turned out...Omg, I don't think I'll ever forget all that blaitant jibberish-like, loud Scottish spitting in my hear. Not to mention the *messes up my hair* *MWAH! on the temple*...spitty. I knew I had it in me to attract the insane! The whole night was such a good time. Cgal, we met some of the loudest, funnest barhoppers ever...figures they're only visiting Toronto for a week! (Galine, you're "exquisite!")

+ crissandra HAS TO fill in this part, the 'language barriers'. it was far too funny, and her that experienced it, so i'll leave this part up to her!

"...Aye, cheers! Want a drink?"
"No, no I'm alright, I'm driving...I left my car at the subway station,"
"Oh that's really responsible, good for you, ya know? Do you have access to the web?"
"Yeah,"
"There's a website: w-w-w dot get in line dot com,"
"What is it, www.getinline.com?"
"No, no no!! Get in LINE dot com!"
"Uh yeah...get in line dot com,"
"Noo......w-w-w dot 'get'...g-e-t...'in'...i-n...'line'...(LONG PAUSE) l-a as in abacus!-n-e!"

And this is when Ian would start singing (sorry, and spitting) some random Nick Cave or Sex Pistols tune in my ear, lol.

LOL...Good link none the less! It measures how hungover you'll be the next day, whether you could drive or not with how much you've drunk, etc...

And then there was the whole "Billy?" "No, *lol* Biwwie! (Bowie)...You know, David Biwwie" incident.

lol, aww. I miss our new friends and my crazy leech. lol. :)

so then...are you glad you saw 'em?? it's too bad they didn't get to play for very long...how were the new songs?? i've only heard 1 or 2 of 'em.

all the asians of queen's are congregating in one place tonite (including my old housemate, tracy, who isn't really from queen's anymore, i guess). :D a guy i kinda know from t.o. is gonna be playing there as well...do i go? do i stay home and pretend to do work? tune in tomorrow to find out what i decide.

so cute!! he looks like a little 12-yr old boy! watch the two way monologue video.

we got there at 9:30 and missed erin and everything else shwon previously on the scheduale.
the bands were a bit country/folkish.
cuff the duke were the most entertaining and i thought were the best act we saw. it took them to long to set up and there set was really cut short catching them of gaurd. they played mainly new stuff.
pictures

i shot a bit of video of cuff the duke. i had no idea there set would have been cut so short or else i would have grabbed more. the vid and sound quality on my camera is less then to be disired. cuff and the sadies had there own camera ppl

nite

post/let me know/call in a hour (i'm off to take a shower & eat something). and YES i AM shy!!!! just not when i get to know someone.
i've known you all forever, so i'm just wacky.;)

i think i'm in love with toronto & music & drinking (light;) & shows & human beings.

*sighsighsighsighsigh*

p.s. cgal, your galine [at] yahoo.ca addy doesn't seem to work. and you told me not to use your crackwhore addy. :(

p.p.s. nevermind. didn't see the b.

cgal i am up for it.
is it affordable? i think it will be fun.
any ideas about tickets?

glad you girls had a great time. funny storries. yes, your so shy cgal.

guelph was pretty fun.
+ met some nice people, had some good drinks, had a good time.
guelph pics (same pass)

the location to the party we went to there ended up being a school bus ride to Orangville! 4 bus loads went packing the bar but they had 21 tv screens showing the game. the dj was pretty good playing a mix of music like the white stripes, black eyed peas, and old jams. first time i have seen girls take the call of nature outside, it happend twice in the night.

good times

BSS beehives. make sure to listen to leslie feist's version of "lover's spit," 'cause i like it.

and i found a damien rice player too, which is nice, 'cause his friggin' album costs an arm and a leg.
cgal, when is the malcolm of arab strap show? i will try to go and then tell him that you looooove him. :D
i think rick mercer's "monologue" parts might be shot in halifax, the hq of salter street films... :( but i could be wrong...
wesley might've met him...we wrote an article about it.

ooh, and i got a promo of sondre lerche's new album a week early! :)

christina: i'm going tonite if cam is still up for it:) i want E V E R Y O N E to go! so people, get off your behinds, and let's do something! it's affordable and fun!
i was going to say that yesterday was jam packed of scots! first you, then us, then when we were leaving there was yet another scotish man talking to us!!
matt barber did play with his band!! they're an odd bunch......

Grant told me to write my name down and he'd get aidan to say something to me next time they were here because he's a really down-to-earth guy. i was like, ahhh noooo, besides they wont be back here for awhile! but we talked about how malcolm was coming to play a show in april. i doubt it'd be that hard to meet arab strap, seeing as they are approachable and love women;) but i'm too shy!! next time you MUST check them out!!!!! they're brilliant, and i'm pretty positive they are number one on my list.

yeayy! you like rick mercers show! did you see him?!? if i ever did, i'd jump the man. he's so loveable. i wonder if we can get tickets to be on his show..still havent found out if we can. it'd be so fun!!!

i wish wish wish wish wisssssssh you were here.

summer is going to be magical ;)

awww...i wish i could've gone! especially tonite. pleeeaase, somebody go tonite!! elmo, downstairs. buy me some pretty CtD merch.

seems scots are taking over the world. ewan mcgregor's gonna have a sort of "reality" show where he travels all over the globe on his motorcycle. can't wait to watch.

did matt barber play w/ his band?

cgal, you seem to be destined to meet arab strap someday. i'll go w/ you to their show if i'm ever back home.

btw, rick mercer came to shoot segments on our campus for his monday report, and it's going to be airing this monday! you're right galine, his show _is_ good.

SOLID ROCK!!
screamed crissandra & galine, influenced by a group of the friendlest scottish/english men you'd ever meet.

last night was better than we ever thought it'd be, and now, as promised to crissandra, i shall outline the entire night of (insane!) events. put in point form so as not to scare everyone, there is far to much to write of, to remember, and putting this all into words could never replace what was a crazy crazy night! but here i go (crissy, please add in:) :

+ met up downtown, at lettieri. mean girls. good conversation, laughter, realization that we were both wired on caffeine and lack of sleep, knowing that the night would be fun (boy did we not know what we'd be getting into!). von called, was meeting up with us @ 11pm *high five!*

+ as soon as we entered the horseshoe and went to the bar to ask for tickets, we were approached by a rambling, drunk, scottsman named Ian who, at first, we both thought great fake accent!. he said him & his friends had been drinking since their flight left from scotland (7am?), drank the airplane out of booze, and were now downtown drinking because they wanted to fall asleep at 2am our time so that they could wake up and fall into some sort of pattern.

+ crissandra HAS TO fill in this part, the 'language barriers'. it was far too funny, and her that experienced it, so i'll leave this part up to her!

+ Grant, another guy w. Ian, came to talk to me. He was absolutely adorable, and coherently told me that they were here for a BMX show for the week, and own a clothing company called pretty heavy. CHRISTINA YOU'LL LOVE THIS PART! ok so i freaked! we started talking about music & i asked him he must know of arab strap since they were from glasgow. he not only knows of them, but chills with them! we were talking of how aidans voice is absolutely brilliant, and we went on and on about it (don't want to bore anyone;)

+ enter Steve, or ste as he said it was?! he entered the arab strap conversation, telling me about the vday party that just passed where aidan was spinning (my mouth had dropped by this point, because i was just reading about it on the arab strab site) crissy and i later agreed that he reminded us of matthew lillard holy freakin plus!!!!!!

+so we finally got into where the bands were performing, and our group of scots decided to join for the night. ste was joking of how ian had leeched on to crissandra, we couldn't stop laughing, and at one point crissandra and i were LOUDER than they were. oh, yeah, so they were so piss drunk they were hollering to the bands on stage. Grant commented on how in Scotland they all lived to have a good time, and we discussed how TO was just too stuck up.;)

+second band had invited their 'friends' to join onstage. on walk Ian and Grant. The singer was all "okay, i don't know who you guys are...but sure!". at the end of the set, who was left on stage? our new found friends. they started singing. hahahhahah this was hilarious.

+crissy had pictures left in her camera, so we took some shots. but instead, mike took over, took 2 shots of crissy from really funny angles, one of her head turned away, one of me laughing or in some weird movement, but one great one (i hope!) of crissy, ste, myself and grant.

+oh yes, so there was a fourth guy named Mike. he was from England, and was the rep' of the company there. (wow). very nice guy, although we thought him to be a little intimidating at a glance. he left early because he was passing in and out of consiousness!

+matt barber came on, crissy was thrilled, he looks and sings like a doll, Grant broke a glass, we danced, he drank out of the pitcher, I can't remember what else because it seemed the night was more based on laughing and having fun than the music. although we danced a bit and laughed and really enjoyed alllllll the musicians who took part in the night (whom i'll figure out who they were later!) the first band was absolutely brilliant, although the songs sounded better when the singer was on keyboard instead of guitar. a wee stuck up too.

so it was a brilliant night.
such great people, and i believe that's the way outings should be. we should be able to just talk to people and enjoy ourselves.
i think they influenced us cos when von and i went to the washroom, we told some guy he was pretty and we liked his scarf. then i ran away, leaving von to laugh (hahahhaha sorry von bondie!)

i know i'm leaving so much out,
but i'm so tired & my bones ache & i am in dire need of more sleep but can't seem to get to bed.

crissy, please post some more:D

thanks for the great night, and if you're up for something today, i'm downnn sista!!!!!

love love and more love,
you rock my *imaginaaaaaaaaaation* (insert rainbow!)
TWIN!

cgalxxx

ps-christina, we really miss you and wished you were there:)

pigtails.
*save target as

Galiners, sounds good. I'll cruise down the queen and will wait for your ring....there's a Lettieri and a Second Cup near Queen and Spadina, it's just a short distance from the 'Shoe... :) Let me know where you prefer!

FILM
Dusk 'til Dawn: The Films of John Waters

when: Sat 3.6 (6pm-6am)
where: The Pioneer Theater (155 E 3rd St, 212.254.3300)
price: Sliding scale (see note)
links: Event Info | John Waters
The reigning king of trash cinema, John Waters is blessed with a gift for making bad taste seem classy. With a string of cult hits that gave big bouffants an updated look, Patricia Hearst a film career, and the word "filth" a new meaning, Waters well-deserves his crown. Tonight, in conjunction with his exhibit at the New Museum, the Pioneer Theater dares you to drop out with this marathon screening series including Hairspray, Polyester, Cry Baby, Pink Flamingos, Pecker, and Serial Mom. It's free to get in, but you'll have to pay to get out (stay 'til dawn and you're home free). So come prepared to fully explore the world of Waters, complete with a midnight look-alike contest judged by the filmmaker himself. (MB)

Note: This is free to enter, pay to leave, $20 for the first film, $5 less for subsequent screening endured. Breakfast will be served to those who can make it through the night.

everyone seems to be talking about his dark materials these days. christine just lent me the first book. it's pretty good so far. apparently tom stoppard is writing the screenplay for the film version.

oscars last nite were okay. some might say it was boring, but at least it didn't really piss me off (except for the charlize theron win, but i guess it wasn't that bad). i should've placed bets on the winners, 'cause i think i guessed just about all of 'em correctly.

cgal, call me.
i watch too much tv. i miss your little lines.

stina, maybe it's your drinking with the ed board that makes you seem like your doing so much more. we are all terrible.

crassy, what time is matt barber hitting the stage. would you rather just check out play? the guest sounds pretty cool, im gonna find out where she is playing.
